
Prof. Ying Chau, PhD
Cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer
Prof. Ying Chau is an expert in biomaterials and drug delivery, with extensive experience in both academia and industry. She is a full professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) since 2006. She has published over 50 research articles, which have been cited more than 3000 times. During her tenure at HKUST, she managed over HKD 60 million in total funding for research and teaching. Her industry experience includes working as a biochemical engineer on DNA vaccine development at Merck Research Laboratories, USA.
Prof. Chau is well recognized for her contributions to translational research and teaching. Her accolades include the Women in Materials Science award from the Royal Society of Chemistry, Leading Woman in STEM by the American Chamber of Commerce and Women of Influence Awards, and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the School of Engineering at HKUST. Currently, she serves as the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, an editorial board member of Drug Delivery (Taylor & Francis) and Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews (Elsevier), and a member of the 2020 Annual Meeting Planning Committee of the Controlled Release Society (CRS).
Prof. Chau received her B.S. from Cornell University, M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
